About Ariel Garatoni Owner/Operator
Under The Sun Pet Sitting was started by Ariel Garatoni at the beginning of 2011. Ariel had been working for the previous three years as a pet sitter for a local business before starting out on her own.
Ariel has loved animals and the wilderness all her life. Growing up in a home with many pets, going camping, hiking, and gardening she's developed a kind, sensitive connection to the living world.
She moved to San Luis Obispo in the fall of 2001 to attend Cal Poly, graduating with a degree in business management. She worked taking care of interior plants for a decade before deciding that pets were more her speed.
Over the years she has kept many types of reptiles, dogs, birds, fish, rodents and cats. She currently lives with her husband, three dogs, six birds, a cat, a lizard, and a snake.

Testimonials Testimonials
"My wife and I recently went on a 2 week vacation. Each of our cats take several types of medication and they are shy around people they don't know. We were very worried about finding someone to care for
them in our absence.
Under the Sun Pet Sitting came to the rescue!
Ariel was extremely professional. She visited our house before our vacation began and learned everything about our animals routines and likes. She explained how she would not only look after our pets, but our house as well.
While we were away she sent of daily emails with photos and videos of our loved ones. I can't say enough about what a difference that made to us. Its one thing to hear that your animals are doing well, it's another to see a video of them playing with their toys, happy and healthy. When we returned home our house was in better shape than when we left, everything was taken care of. Ariel documented what happened on each of her visits. She was extremely thorough and we
felt we knew what went on at home every day that we were gone.
I can't recommend Under the Sun Pet Sitting enough. They took care of our pets, our house, and us while we were away."

"I traveled quite extensively for the three years I lived in San Luis Obispo. As you may suspect, it was stressful to leave my beloved animal for any period of time, especially so frequently. Ariel provided attentive and loving care for my very special cat. I always returned home to a calm and happy kitty, full of stories about her time with her very special friend Ariel.
I was thankful to have a responsible and very capable sitter to rely on. She certainly made my absences as easy and worry free as possible for us all. I would highly recommend Ariel."

"Ariel Garatoni has been pet sitting and house sitting for us since October, 2008. She has cared for our former cats, Emma and Tess, as well as our young Labradoodles, Ruby and Jack, since their arrival as puppies. Ariel has always taken excellent care of our pets and our house.
We leave home on our trips confident that Ariel will care for Ruby and Jack as well, if not better, than we do. Ariel walks our dogs twice weekly and the pups love seeing her arrive in her little red car. We highly recommend Ariel and Under the Sun Pet Sitting."

Rescue Links Why Rescue?
My parents always advised me never to buy a used car, because I would just be buying somebody elses problems. Unfortunately, thats how some people view rescue dogs-as dogs that werent wanted because they had problems and didnt make good pets.
In the vast majority of cases, thats just not true! Most dogs who come into rescue were not given up because they were bad dogs or had behavioral problems. Unfortunately, many people buy dogs without thinking about the time, effort, and expense involved in keeping a dog. These dogs end up in shelters, or along the side of the road, or, if theyre lucky, in rescue. In fact, the most common reasons a dog ends up with a rescue organization include the following:
-The owners dont have time for the dog.
-The owners find that they cant afford either basic vet care or the expense involved in treating an illness or injury.
-The owner dies or goes into a nursing home.
-The owners divorce and neither party can keep the dog. (You would be amazed at how many dogs we get as a result of divorces!)
-A young couple has a child and no longer has time for the dog, or the dog no longer fits into their lifestyle.
-The owner is moving to an apartment building that doesnt allow dogs.
